Thursday, August 23rd: No lab meeting

Friday, August 24th: Introduction to the course and discussion of the language of analytical chemistry. Read Chapter 3 of Modern Analytical Chemistry. In class worksheet and discussion of error in laboratory measurements.

Thursday, August 30th: "The Weakest Link," an exercise on the importance of sampling.

Friday, August 31st: Discussion of sampling. Read Chapter 7, Sections A - C (pages 179 - 201).

Thursday, September 6th: "Developing an Analytical Method for PNP," an exercise on the importance of standardizations.

Friday, September 7th: Discussion of validating analytical methods.

Thursday, September 13th: Begin Method Development Project. Suggest gathering equipment and reagents, and preparing needed solutions.

Friday, September 14th: Discussion of measurement uncertainty.
