Segovia, as both a
Roman city and one of the most spectacular cities on the Route of the
Castles, attracts visitors from around the world. The beauty of the Guadarrama
mountain range only enhances travel in an around Segovia as it is the
majestic divide between Segovia and Madrid. Segovia’s proximity
to Madrid allows students to take advantage of all the capital city has
to offer such as museums, concerts, festivals, shopping, and more. As
Madrid is the major transportation hub of Spain, students can easily organize
trips to various cities in Spain and other neighboring countries. |

Excursions included!
The central location
of Segovia facilitates excursions to neighboring sites of importance
such as the royal palace in La Granja, El Escorial, the University of
Salamanca, Toledo, Mérida, and more. Our knowledgable professors
guide the students on these excursions and they form part of the courses,
encouraging students to apply what they learn in their classes to the
sights around them.

Immersive
opportunities abound
AHA
Segovia is committed to maintaining a small program size with an outstanding
5:1 student-professor ratio. As one of two study abroad programs located
in the city, students have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves
in local culture and explore friendships with Segovians without constantly
bumping into other Americans. Students participate in intercambiuos, language
partners, with local university students. |

Safe,
accomodating environment
Living
with host families provides students with a support system and cultural
opportunity that students living in dorms or apartment struggle to obtain.
The families, as well as the safety of Segovia, provide an optimal setting
for students to live, learn, and explore. The AHA school has its own student
library equipped with computers and wireless internet and the local library
is located across from the school. Many students also enjoying studying
in the many local cafes. |

Bring your backpack and
your hiking shoes
The
Guadarrama mountain range is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground.
In the spring, summer, and fall hikers take advantage of the ample trails
and breathtaking views. In winter skiers and snowboarders enjoy the snowy
peaks that border Segovia. Local outfitters organize all sorts of excursions
for caving, mountain biking, canoing, climbing, skiing, and more. |

The staff at AHA loves to find internship opportunities for students seeking university internship credit. Current internships include the Office of Tourism and the Museum of Contemporary Art. An internship is a great way to build your resumé, improve your fluency, and meet lots of interesting Segovians. And if you think it couldn't get better than that, these are paid internships, too! |
