Course Schedule: Introductory Psychology 100.

I am teaching two sections of this course during the Fall semester of 1999:

Please note that when a day of testing supplementary exam items is scheduled, I have no problem with a student in either course section choosing to attend the exam period for the other section, as long as:

With respect to the latter, all students should understand that the letter grade cutoffs for each exam are determined in such a way that the performance of a student that is inflated by dishonest means may also cause the grades of other students to be depressed unjustly. Students should make personal judgements about the proper limits of peer pressure, loyalty, conformity, etc. and their toleration of the failings of others in these areas. I will not conduct myself as an aggressive "morals policeman", but I will prosecute evidence of academic dishonesty to the fullest limit of my personal energies when I stumble upon it or it is brought to my attention.

The priviledge to switch exam times also applies to the four regular hourly exams and the fifth hourly exam that is scheduled for each of the two sections in their respective final exam periods. The only proviso is that I must insist on remaining absolutely free to discontinue this policy at any time without obligation to accomodate students who may have made plans based upon its assumed continuation. Thus, you should be careful not to make travel or other plans on the basis of the assumed continuation of this policy that you cannot easily extricate yourself from. If you cannot live with those terms, you should simply plan to take all exams at the time that is designated for your section of the course.

The letter "S" when used below refers to your basic course text: Smith, B.  Psychology: Science & Understanding.

The letter "D" refers to your supplementary reading text: Diamond, J.: The Third Chimpanzee.

The chapters included in each module of assigned reading will be considered in the order in which they are listed.

Generally, unless otherwise described, the "Supplementary Test Items" that are mentioned in the schedule below focus on the content of the chapters in the Diamond supplementary text of readings. It may also include material from other supplementary reading materials that are made available to you, lecture, videos, and other classroom activities. Examination on this material is generally "open notes", but NOT "open book/source" and is "noncumulative" from one exam to the next.
