Study Guide for Map-Date Quiz
Last Updated 8-31-06
The Quiz will be Tuesday Sept. 12, at beginning of class.

NOTE:  My policy on quizzes and tests is to ask all students to place all materials at the front of the room during the test. Also, once the test has begun, no one may leave the room.  his policy is designed to protect you. In recent last years there have been accusations of cheating by some students of others. The above policy protects you from such risks and enhances academic integrity.

The answers to all of these can be found in the various assignments over the first two weeks.

I will elaborate in class, the point of this quiz is to encourage you to memorize several facts. So why this exercise? And why so early? It came directly from comments by students on evaluations. By memorizing these facts we develop a shared vocabulary and facts for dealing with an immense amount of diversity which makes the remainder of the course much easier, and more fun. Past students repeatedly commented that waiting until the midterm to test on these items was too late.

So view it as a cheap and easy 100 points. Come in on the 5th, take the quiz in about 15 minutes, and you have 100 points in the bag! And incidentally, you will then know much more about Native Americans than the average college-educated person, and will have an easier time for the rest of the term. An all around good deal!
